Happy Eid Essentials Printable

Ramadan month is closing in and Eid ul-Fitr will finally come! This calls for a big celebration! So in honor for the Eid, here is your free Eid essentials printable. If you're not familiar with Eid celebration and wonder what are those things I drew front and center, they are "ketupats". Ketupats to Ied is as turkeys to Thanksgiving for most Indonesians. They are basically dumpling-like rice cakes, carefully molded inside a diamond shaped container that is woven palm leaves. Impressive, huh? As with turkeys, we eat ketupats with gravy-like "opor" and other seasonal holiday dishes.

Daily Menu Planner Free Printable

I am so much unaware of the planner business hitting the crafting world alike. It seems so sudden (at least to me) and a little bit overshadows the scrapbooking world. Now don't laugh at me just yet, of course, I do aware of a planner. I had it since junior high, filled with magazines cutouts of boyband members, among my daily homeworks, and preteen typical doodles and quotes (you know, how my name sounds followed by a crush's last name .. and cheesy love songs lyrics).

But since when does it become associated with washi tapes?? Washi tapes have a celebrity status in the crafting world since like 6 years ago, and oh my, cute leather covers! Extra charms! Specialty stickers! Colorful pens and markers! And most of all, cute notebooks and inserts! Of course, not too mention the amazing community! I'm really thrilled and excited!

I promised you a printable insert, right? So after lurking around and doing some research (drooling on people's hobonichi, midori, foxydori...), I present to you an A5 inserts for your planner. And it's not just another plain inserts, it's a menu plan!! Mothers and home cooks rejoice! It's really hard to plan a meal everyday if you know what I mean, and I hope to help you plan and list in style.

I designed it in A5 size. That's half of a letter/A4 paper and fits to most planner, especially the hobonichi cousin. It is layouted on an A4 paper so everytime you print, you'll get 2 pages of inserts, you may cut it in half or you may not. It's up to your planner. Print on both sides of paper if needed. A little warning I'm new to this planning activity, so you may find this inserts unsuitable or could use an extra imporvement, please let me know!

June Printable Month 2015

Happy June everyone!! Welcome to Babalisme's annual June Printable Month! If you're new here, it means I'm going to share loads of FREE printables during this month, you may even request the theme or what printable do you need!

And no, I'm not hiding under a rock, so I see that planning has taken over the craft world lately, it might somehow push scrapbooking aside for awhile :) I know because some of scrapbooking blogs I follow are slowly shifting to planning. It's a huge phenomenon! So what do you think? Does anyone need any planner inserts ;) ? I'm no planner expert so all suggestion is highly appreciated.

Free Retro Inspired Valentine's Day Card

Ah, how I love tacky and kitschy retro ephemeras, especially for Valentine's card! Inspired by the classical retro Valentine's Day card, here is babalisme own version of retro Valentine's Day card!

It's a regular side opened card, so the instruction should be very simple, just cut, and fold! Write sweet nothings or pour your Shakespearean heart out on the inside. I purposely keep the wordings simple for this card to work well for mothers, sisters, friends, or even teachers! Don't forget them, show everyone your love this year!

Halloween Frebie : Haunted Hause Favor Box

Well it's officially October, yet again. Time to dress up, time to scare. And it's time for babalisme's annual Halloween printable! This time around, we'll have a cute small favor box, in shape of a classic milk cartoon for you to download, FREE!  

Here I am using a glossy photo paper for the house, which I deemed not quite the best choice for paper crafting, but I'm out of my usual matte card stock paper. As you can see, the glossy paper is well, duh glossy (it made my black house rather blueish, ugh) and cracked mercilessly when folded. So yeah, be careful when you pick a paper. #lessonlearned

Instructions : 

1. Print on your desired paper/card stock and cut out. Make sure you cut your "window" open too. 
2. Using the blunt edge of a small kitchen knife, or x-acto, or a spoon, or really, invest in a good bone folder already (Martha made a pretty good one), creases all the dotted lines. including the triangle on the rooftop, those are important. 
3. Fold away your creases. Glue or double taped on sides where the edges met to form a box. 
4. Don't for get to leave your "roof" open for now. 
5. Fill in with candies. 
6. Close off the roof  a stapler, or punch two holes on it and close it off with a ribbon. 
7. Be generous handing out your treats.

Free Paperdoll : Frozen Inspired! (Anna, Elsa, and Olaf)

You know, since the movie Frozen hit the theater, everyone seems obsessively infuriated by its charm. And yes, almost everyone, from young to old, boys and girls, men and women. Who hasn't heard the song "Let it Go"? Well, something changes at my email inbox as well. Suddenly, after the movie's out, I was spammed by lots of people asking : 

"Can you please do a Frozen paperdoll (at your blog)?" 

Seriously, it's a significant amount of email asking about Frozen paper doll and to this day, I am still getting about 2-3 emails particularly asking about this. What? Like 5 months after the film released? Frozen fever is indeed a real thing! 

After much consideration (and procrastination of lots of work and lack of sleep), here it is, I'm making a Frozen inspired paper doll of  Princess Elsa and Anna and one happy snowman. I was at first getting giddy because I'm too terrified of Disney suing my tail for trespassing their copyrights and laws. But one lady ( hi, Kerry!) convinced me, "Do you realize how many Frozen images are taken for profit? At Etsy? Everywhere else? They don't even knit or paint Elsa themselves, they google it, print it on some cushion covers, and sell it as it is!" Really? I thought.... and thought.. and thought.... 

Soooo .. I don't own anything about Frozen and the guys at Disney should take all credits... I guess it's just fair I put it up for free for the rest of the world. This paper doll would be a mere fan-art. Please enjoy and have fun! In return.. I'm only asking you to do the same, please do not re-distribute the file for profit. For example, please feel free to use the doll design in your cake for your own personal party. But don't sell the cake including these design.

Valentine's Day Cootie Catcher

I think I do remember of wanting to share a cootie catcher printable with you, but I just can't find the perfect occasion for it. I once thought about fill in invitation, but what a huge trouble for both the sender and the receiver. Some of your guests might not "get it" and miss your party's time, for example. Because I know, some of my guests did have no clue about what to do with a cootie catcher invitation. Can't blame them. 

Then again, what's more suitable for a cootie catcher than be a Valentine's Day game? And I have modified the game a little bit, to be more family-friendly and less pre teen oriented, so smaller children can also enjoy this game with their siblings, parents, or class. :) So please bear with me if this cootie catcher is somewhat played differently than you are used to. There will be no fortune telling involved now. 

First of all print it right here. 

Follow the instruction below the cootie catcher to make one. Repeat if necessary. This game can be played from as low as 2 persons to up to .. well a class of children will do. :) Here's how to play.

1. Take turns with the cootie catcher, first person up, would spell his name while opening and closing, alternating left right and up down movement, the cootie catcher with his fingers. For example, if his name is Bryan, it would be " B (open left right close), R (open up down close), Y (open left right close), A (open up down close), N (open left down, remain open)"

2. Bryan would pick a number he'd like. for example from 4 numbers available he picks the number 3. 

3. Repeat step 1, but this time counting "1-2-3" while opening and closing the cootie catcher. 

4. Again, Bryan would pick a number, this time he'd like to choose the number 8. Open up the number 8 flap.Hey it's "Whisper Sweet Nothings"! Bryan should do the assignment he had picked to the next person in turn. For example, it's Angela. 

5. After Bryan whispers his sweet nothings to Angela, now it's Angela's turn with the cootie catcher. And she will do another assignment to the next kid in turn. 

Here's the list of the assignments :
Give a hug : the cootie catcher handler give the next kid a hug. 
Tickle Me Crazy : everyone tickle the cootie catcher handler!!! It's a wild ticket bonus everyone will love :D
Share a chocolate : the handler should give a chocolate/candy to the next kid.
Sing a love song : handler sings! or the whole team sings with her choice of song. 
Get up and dance : handler dances, or she may ask the next kid to join her. 
Kiss a cheek : kiss the next kid's cheek
Do an eskimo kiss : between the handler and the next kid. it's rubbing each ones' noses gently btw. 
Whisper sweet nothings : aw, you know this one. 

Bottom note : this printable has been tested by 5 year old big sis G. And she played it continuously you may notice the wear and tear signs on my cootie catcher above. At the first time she had a hard time closing and opening the cootie catcher correctly, but she got the hang of it pretty soon. Hope you have fun playing too!

Sugar Rush Dessert Table

Holy Dessert Table! Look what Amesh made for Nova ( Indonesian weekly women's tabloid, if you were wondering, it covers everything from gossips to relationship advice to crafting!), and I pitched in a little bit! I'm so proud of her amazing job on doing the dessert table's landscape, thank you for bringing me along the joyride! 

Amesh had an idea of aqua and red Christmas, a very fresh take on an overused, bi-color traditional Christmas theme. But still, it's very festive and merry!  These are taken on my own copy of Nova.... I think I could never ever throw the issue away. How about framing it? mmm..

Dear Lovelies, how was your weekend?
Have you been downloading the party kit? Does it work? Any problems downloading? I'm using 4shared now instead of Scribd, I don't know why but Scribd refused to load at the mean time in my PC. So tell me if you have any problems/ suggestions!

Anyho, I'm not much of a baker so I'm not sure what to serve during "boy-ish" party theme. What do you suggest? Is macaroons a little bit too girly? Well, I'm sorry, you can't alter the design that is already made, digitally speaking. However you can always use it creatively AFTER you print it out. For example, you may print it on t-shirt transfer paper and iron it on your t-shirt! Just don't sell the t-shirt afterwards.

It's a Boy Party Kit : Invitation

Now you have a party to throw, why not invites some friends? Here is a fill in the blank invitation to print. Just print along accordingly to your number of guests, and well, um... fill in the blank parts.

Well, not all the blank parts shown written on the example should be filled, for instance the blue ribbons can be left blank if you wish. The RSVP part could also be left empty or filled with another details (dress code?).

It's your party, anyway, so have fun and fill those blanks as you'd wish. Don't forget, I won't mind a few DIY alteration and creative embellishment, send us a photo of your creations! But please remember to use the file for PERSONAL USE only, and if your friends ask for it, give them the link, not your copy :) . Have fun inviting!

It's that time again for Babalisme's annual Free Party Printable kit. This time, instead of getting to choose between 2 themes, I'll let you choose between 2 genders.Yes, I know, it's as cheesy as celebrity baby sex guess in tabloids (yeah yeah Snooki's reveal and Jessica Simpson mega shout-out about hers), but I'm so pregnant that all I keep thinking about are babies. Please think of this as my own gender reveal, DIY style :)

Even if you're not planning any babies after all or baby shower parties aren't really on your agenda, please DO VOTE. I promise I won't make the whole kit too "baby-ish", for example, the boy party kit would be still proper for a little boy's birthday, family gathering in man-ly moods, or even a casual lunch with your besties. Boo with your Eyes

Halloween is just 2 weeks away! I'm so excited! If only I could decorated our doorways and lanes with paper tombstones and plastic skeletons without getting myself burnt at stakes. Sigh. I always envy you guys who can celebrate Halloween in the open. Heck, I can always celebrate with you guys, online! Halloween party printables here FREE for you all these 2 weeks (pssst. Giveaway(s) too...)  

One of my reader, Sarah, asked for a not too kiddie Halloween theme like I have always done but not slasher movie material either. So...inspired by this, I think I'd share a photo props that is both safe for children but doesn't felt too childish for a grown up Halloween gathering.

Do cut along the dotted lines and don't forget to attach both temples to your "boo!". I initialized the "boo!" to fit with A4 printing paper, but do adjust the print size to your ..er... head or heads. For example, a 80% printed "boo!" suit 7 years old well. Or if your head is as huge as a pumpkin, print at 120%.
